I started going to many car and motorcycle shows, and looking at the paintwork, getting ideas, and finding who is doing what in the area. From there, I simply started asking questions, on how to get involved, and where to start! I personally really liked the idea of pinstriping, because you don’t need a big shop or a lot of equipment to do it, the biggest problem, was finding someone to teach me.

I ordered a few brushes and some 1-shot paints from ebay and thought…how hard could this be? If you have never tried pinstriping, you really have no idea how hard it really is! After a month of frustration, I ordered some of the “Wizards” pinstriping DVD’s and lets just say they changed my life. I started following the directions found in the DVD’s and practiced every evening for months, on line control.

Once I learned, all the basics of pinstriping, I took my work to forums like www.pinheadlounge.com, and www.kustomkulturelounge.com where I could find some helpful feedback and criticisms from people of all levels.

All artists have different styles, techniques, and ways of doing things within this industry. The most common trait between pinstripers, is there happiness to help you learn. We all know how hard it is, and how much time is required to put into it. Most people are happy to teach and give pointers, including myself.

After years of hard work, I am now considdered one of the best pinstripers in all of Ontario, and I just keep getting better. I am even learning to airbrush, so in a few years I feel I will be ready to tackle even more autobody graphix.
